Downtown Revitalization

Downtown Grove is changing with a new look and a new energy. The Grove City Council adopted a Downtown Master plan in 2004. The 15 year master plan has an estimated cost at over $6 million. Phase I of the plan has been completed with new sidewalks, lighting and landscaping. It also included infrastructure improvements including waterline upgrades and extensive storm drainage improvements.

Phase II should be started within the next year and will complete the Streetscape portion of the downtown business district with the aid of a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation Enhancement Funds.

The Chamber’s Downtown Revitalization Committee is also working with the City to develop a small park with a walking trail at the east side of the downtown area. A building facade improvement program was completed in 2010.

Unique shopping in downtown Grove offers an array of stores with art work, books, gourmet cooking items, lake souvenirs, everything for fishing and more. There are also several wonderful restaurants in the downtown area. The Grove Playmakers, using local talent, produces several plays throughout the year. The theatre is located downtown across from the community center.

Free public parking is available off of Grand Street between Third Street and O’Daniel and at the Grove Community Center downtown. Using off street parking or the side streets can make parking easier. Each year over 5 million cars past through the downtown intersection at Third & Main. Not bad for a little lake town with an exciting future.
