Saline Courthouse Museum
55870 S 490 Rd
Rose, OK 74364

Built in 1884, the Saline Courthouse is the only one of nine original courthouses in Indian Territory still standing today. Located near Rose, Oklahoma, it sits on 14 rural acres, along with a springhouse and the Teehee Cemetery. Though it only served as a courthouse for 14 years, the site has a rich and colorful history, which includes the infamous “Saline Massacre” in 1897. The State of Oklahoma returned the site to the Cherokee Nation in the 1980s, with preservation efforts commencing in the early 2000s. Tour the site and surrounding grounds to experience the history of Cherokee justice and more.
